I am introducing a new colorway tonight. This one was, quite honestly, a dye accident that I just happen to absolutely adore! I’m calling it Easter Grass, because it reminds me of the colorful plastic grass that you fill a child’s easter basket with.

It is a space dyed colorway, so it is possible that it could pool when knit. Just FYI. 🙂

3.21.13 Shop Update and a NEW FIBER BASE!!

Hi friends! I hope this post finds you well. I am having trouble with my back, due to over-enthusaistic rolag making… so I’m resting until the weekend to make sure that I am able to work next week.

The show must go on, though, and I have a SPECTACULAR update for you guys today! I actually have so many listings that I had to split the preview mosaics into a fiber one and a yarn one, in order to show you all of the goodies! Fun!!

Ok, so what’s going up today… here’s a breakdown!

(6) sets of rolags

(2) skeins of handspun

(2) braids of a NEW FIBER BASE! (more on that in a minute)

(2) listings of Expedition Sport (each has 2 skeins available), including the premiere of my BRAND NEW 30th birthday commemorative colorway, Year of the Honey Badger! (bottom left in the yarns mosaic)

 

I’m sure you spinners out there are probably thinking “new fiber base- tell us more!!” so here ya go. This fiber is one of my favorites that I’ve ever dyed, and I am absolutely thrilled to be making it available to you guys! It is a 100% merino fiber, natural gray with banding. It makes for a spectacular base to dye on (the colors REALLY intensify and look so gorgeous!) and it is an absolute pleasure to spin. I have it available in my 2 most popular colorways today, Aurora Borealis and Abalone, one braid of each. I have more coming up next week’s updates too, though, so if you miss it today don’t fret!

I would also like to know if anybody out there would like to possibly get some of this fiber undyed. I don’t do undyed fibers in my shop as a rule, but this fiber is just SO BEAUTIFUL in its natural state, I feel like I need to make an exception this time. It will be $2.75/oz, and shipping is my normal shipping price per 4oz/each additional 4oz. I will probably not have this fiber up undyed unless someone requests it, so if you would like some, please email me through the shop.

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend. The weather was gorgeous here in southeastern Tennessee.

As you can see, I spent a lot of time over the weekend making rolags. I am addicted to them! They are so much fun to create, but even more fun to spin. I have a set on one of my supported spindles right now, as well as a set being spun on my Hansen miniSpinner. They create gorgeous yarn, and I hope you’ll give them a try!

“Carnelian and Turquoise” on Touring DK

You might recognize this one, as it was one of my most popular colorways a few years ago. It knits up beautifully, and I was excited to see it turn out so vibrantly on the Touring DK base! That yarn really does take color SO well.

Hi friends! It’s time for the Thursday shop update preview! All of these goodies will be available in the shop at 2pmET today.

(I tried out a new mosaic-making site today… like it? I do!)

I am re-releasing another colorway today that I haven’t done in a long time. This one is called “Babylon Candle”, and features black, orange, gold, and two shades of purple. I think it’s really pretty, and hope you do too!

Tonight there are 2 new sets of rolags (these guys are so much fun to make! I’m addicted!), plus a re-released space dyed colorway called Chocolate Mint.

I am having such fun redyeing these older colorways and putting them up in the shop again! I remember the first time I ever dyed this colorway… it was actually featured in a treasury on the front page of Etsy, and I was so excited! 🙂

3.4.13 Shop Update and a NEW PRODUCT: ROLAGS!!

Hi everybody! I am really, really excited about tonight’s update… so much goodness going on here!

I hope you look at that mosaic and say- “hey wait, what are those things on the top left and in the middle on the bottom??” because that is one reason I am super excited tonight.

I am introducing rolags to my line of spinning fibers!! (you might also see them called “punis”, if you search for them online) Now you might be asking yourself what rolags are. Well, they are handcarded, handrolled tubes of fiber that are ideal for spinning woolen-style yarns (they can also be predrafted to create more semiwoolen yarns). I have created these rolags using my new blending board and my full arsenal of handdyed fibers and fun add-ins, and am finding them to be absolutely the most fun to make! You’ll be seeing lots of them in the shop going forward, I’m sure. Here are larger pictures of the ones going up tonight:

Aren’t they fun! So far I’m just making 1-1.5oz lots of them, but if you see something you really like or have an idea for a color combo you’d like a larger quantity of, please contact me through the shop and I’ll be glad to work something up for you! 🙂 I hope you’ll give these little guys a try!
