As you can see, there is a new colorway debuting today. After Twilight is a creamy green base with speckles of purplish-gray. I have knit up a swatch so you can see what it will work up like:

This swatch is the stitch pattern from the pattern Hitofude Cardigan by Hiroko Fukatsu. I plan to knit this sweater out of this exact yarn, so I figured it would be a good chance to kill two birds with one stone: swatch it up for the shop, and get my sweater swatch done at the same time! As you can see, the speckles truly are random, so it is a great garment colorway. There are only two skeins of this colorway going up into the shop today, but it is available for custom order.

 

I also want to make an announcement… next week is an ALL-HALLOWEEN update, and it is HUGE! Each of my previous years’ colorways (Halloweenie, Ghoulish, Transylvania Tramp, O Negative, Teen Wolf, and Goth Girl) will all be available again on a variety of yarn and fiber bases, as well as FOUR NEW colorways that you’ve never seen! Swatches are currently being knit up of the new colorways, and will be posted a few days before the update so you can plan your shopping. As a matter of fact, I’ll be posting a mosaic of the new colorways later this week so you can see them and get as excited as I am! And I bet you’re going to love the theme I picked too… it’s a popular Halloween movie and probably one of my favorites ever!

7.22.14 Shop Update

Hello all! I hope this post finds you doing well. I am working on some super secret awesome new colorways today that will be going up in a few weeks (a hint: HALLOWEEN!!) and I am just so excited!

Delft is a new colorway in the shop and is absolutely spectacular in person. It was created for a good friend of mine who said that the colors and tones in it made her think of Delft china, so that’s where it got its name.

7.15.14 Fibers

Fibers today are two braids of Summer Storm on Swirl BFL and two braids of Midsummer Night’s Dream on Polwarth.

As I posted a few weeks ago, I’m trying to swatch up new colorways as I dye them (which is hard, because sometimes I come up with them faster than I can knit!). This week I am debuting a new colorway in the shop, Rio. This lovely colorway is an underdye of sea blue with speckles of turquoise, purple, brown, and gold. As you can see in the below swatch, this yarn knits up into a lovely speckled swatch and would make a gorgeous project.

This week there is just one skein of Rio available, and it is on my new Honeymoon Sock base, but it is available for custom order if you wish. Just follow the directions linked at the top or bottom of my shop!

Custom Orders Are Open!

I wanted to let everyone know that custom orders are now open again in the Unwind Yarn Company shop! 

Sweater quantities have listings for them in the shop itself, and all other orders can be placed by filling out my Custom Order Form linked at the top or bottom of every page in my shop. 

Right now I am running a 2 week wait (or less) for custom orders, but that could potentially change if I get a lot of orders placed at one time. If it is going to be longer than 2 weeks, I will email you to let you know.

Sometimes I see a base that’s available from my mill and I think “WOW” but I’m not sure if it’s right for my line. This base has intrigued me for a long time, but because of the price point I didn’t want to commit to adding it permanently until I saw what my customers thought about it.

“Gracie Pearl” on Glisten DK

Here are the details about it:
Name: Glisten DK (tentatively named… it might get renamed if I add it to my line on a permanent basis)
Weight/Yardage: DK weight 4ply, 231yds/100g
Composed of: 75% superwash merino/20% silk/5% nylon
Gauge: 5.25-6sts = 1″ on US 5-7 needles
Care instructions: machine or hand wash gentle, dry flat away from sun (I REALLY recommend hand washing all handdyed yarns though!!)
Price: $30 per skein

I only ordered a few skeins of it, and have 18 of them going up today as dye-to-order. I haven’t done this method of ordering a whole lot, so here’s what it means for you:
1. You put the number of skeins in your cart that you’d like to order.
2. Put in the “notes to seller” area what colorway(s) you’d like to order, and the quantity of each so I know exactly what to dye for you (ie. if you order 4 skeins, be sure to put “colorway A” (2) and “colorway B” (2) so I know how many to dye of each).
3. This is a custom order, so it’s subject to my regular custom order policies: nonrefundable once dyed, subject to my dye schedule which is about a 2 week wait right now, etc.- see my Custom Orders page on my shop for more info).
4. Once these skeins are gone, whether or not I reorder them depends on demand, so if you want some and they are sold out OR if there aren’t enough for your project, please send me an email at unwindyarncompany (at) gmail (dot) com and let me know.

I hope you’ll give this base a try! It’s such a lovely yarn, and has an even softer hand than my Touring DK (and I didn’t think that was possible!). If you’ve knit with the Touring DK base, this one will knit up exactly the same, but has the added luster of silk plus the stellina sparkle. It’s definitely special!

7.1.14 Knitting Pop Art Necklaces

 

I also wanted to show you guys a knitted swatch of Your Face Is My Heart, which is one of my new Outlander colorways. I know that sometimes it’s hard to visualize what a yarn will look like knitted up when you’re just looking at a picture of a skein, so I am going to be making a real effort to knit up swatches of my new colors as I release them.

This swatch was knit on size US2 double pointed needles, and I cast on 60 stitches just like I would for a sock leg if I was going to knit a pair of socks for myself. I hope this gives you a good idea of what it will look like knit up!
