July 12 Update

Hey everybody! I have some beautiful things going up in today’s 1pmET shop update….

Update July 12

Top: “Pure Imagination” on Rendezvous Sport (also available on Journey Sock), Middle: “Amalfi At Night” on Rendezvous Sport, Bottom: “Strut Your Stuff” on Journey Sock (also available on Honeymoon Sock)

Top and bottom are brand new colorways available on 2 different bases each, and the middle colorway is a re-release that I haven’t dyed in a long time! All listings are currently available to be viewed in preview mode in the shop, and will be available for purchase at 1pmET.

Also going up today, but in my Pampered Nails By Dana Facebook Group, is the Hawaiian Half Light You Nailed It! Kit!

fullsizeoutput_14c8

The idea for these kits was born when I realized just how often I see posts on Instagram by knitters and crocheters, where they are showing that their project matches their nails. With this kit, you can have that happen for up to 14 days! ๐Ÿ˜‰ The Hawaiian Half Light design is brand new for Summer 2018, and when I saw it I knew it needed to be represented in yarn form too!

The price of the kit is $47 including US shipping (please note that these cannot be shipped out of the US, so they are only open to US residents).
In this kit:
(1) set of Color Street nail polish strips in Hawaiian Half Light
(1) skein of Unwind Yarn Company Twinkle Sock Yarn in Hawaiian Half Light (75% superwash merino/20% nylon/5% stellina sparkle, 438yds/100g, hand wash/dry flat)

There are 4 kits available in this round. To have a chance of getting one, you need to be a member of my Facebook group. Click the link above to get to the group, and request to join. I’ll be sure to check the member requests before putting the kit post live at 1pmET so anyone who wants one has a chance. If there is a lot of demand, I am amenable to making more kits too!

Here’s a pic of the nail strips on my own nails, with the yarn:

And of course, a swatch of the yarn:

Thanks so much for your continued support! ๐Ÿ™‚

June 28 Shop Update

Hello everyone! As I’ve been listing quite a bit of yarn lately, I decided to do something fun and different today… I’ve listed more fun yarn bowls, and a brand new product for me: spinning project bags!

IMG_0837

3 Brand New Yarn Bowls Listed Today!

IMG_0838

Brand New Today: Spinning Project Bags!

The project bags are really unique and fun.ย Whenever I take my spinning wheel or spindle out of the house, I’m always torn on what to do with my fiber. I don’t want to keep crushing it into a plastic bag, and I think my fiber gets a little jealous of all of my pretty knitting project bags!ย This style of bag was born from the need to have a stylish and practical way to carry spinning fiber. It is lined with satin so your fiber doesn’t get felted or stuck all over the inside of the bag, and has 3 kam snaps as closures across the top so you don’t have to deal with fiber getting stuck in a zipper or fiddle with a drawstring. It even has a handy wrist strap if you want to walk and spin on your spindle simultaneously!

For more information on these beauties, check out the shop! All items are now available for purchase!

April 26 Shop Update

Hi everyone!

After a VERY busy few weeks, I’m doing a shop update tomorrow!

I vended the Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival in Townsend TN this past weekend, and created a beautiful new colorway that premiered at the show. Meet “Overhead Sidewalks”:
fullsizeoutput_1171

This colorway was based on a picture of my hometown’s downtown, and its distinctive overhead sidewalks- the only ones in the Western Hemisphere!
fullsizeoutput_10a7

This colorway will be available on Journey Sock, Twinkle Sock, Luxe Sock, and Touring DK in limited quantities. As it is a truly unique yarn, each skein is a little different. Please allow for artistic license!

I am also listing these two beautiful lots of Touring DK:

April 26

Top: In Dreams, Bottom: Earth

I have a few announcements to make as well.

  • I recently finished a wonderful wholesale order for Stitch Supply Company, based out of Altoona WI! I was honored to get to dye a set of 14 colorways based on Tula Pink’s new All Stars fabric collection, and these yarns will be available on the Stitch Supply Company website soon!
  • I am currently working on a “refill” wholesale order for Needlepoint Junction in Hilton Head Island, SC. They have a beautiful exclusive colorway from me that you should really try to go see, if you’re planning to visit the SC coast this year! Michele and her staff are really wonderful people and their shop is so nice!
  • I am scheduled to be a part of the Worldwide Knit In Public Day celebrations at the new Kudzu Cottage shop in Pikeville TN on June 9. I will be bringing a selection of Unwind with me, as well as debuting a brand new custom colorway I am creating for Kudzu Cottage!

As always, you can find the shop here, and the update will be live at 1pmET! Thank you for your continued support! ๐Ÿ™‚

January 25 Shop Update

January 11 Update

Hi folks!

I am excited to be back with the first update of 2018! I’ve been a busy little bee lately, creating a new colorway series (more on that in a minute) as well as a few new standalone colorways that are just GORGEOUS.

Going up today at 1pmET in the shop…

Jan11Update

Top Row L-R: Baby There’s A Shark In The Water, Auld Lang Syne, Lonely Hearts Club ย  ย  ย  ย  Middle Row: Auld Lang Syne, Bird On A Wire, Lonely Hearts Club ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย Bottom Row: Queen Of Everything, Stained Glass Sock Blank, Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne and Baby There’s A Shark In The Water are brand new, and Lonely Hearts Club and Queen Of Everything were new in 2017. The sock blank is actually the 2017 Into The Wool colorway rendered on a blank, but as with all of my blanks it is a one of a kind.

Something new this week is a brand new colorway series. As I’m now a quilter AND a knitter, I’ve been thinking a lot about ways that both crafts intersect. In quilting, a “blender” is a fabric that reads as a single color and can be used to tie together more vibrant, variegated fabrics into a harmonious single project. I think it’s high time that we have that option in yarns too! So I have created myย Perfect Blender Seriesย to help out with that! 2 color shawls, “fade-style” projects, and speckled/variegated yarns often call out for a more semisolid option to go with them, so hopefully these new colorways will fill that need. I am starting out with 6 colorways, and will add onto these over the next few months. It is taking me a while to get the listings/blog page compiled as I am going through all of my dye formulas and populating a list of the colorways that they will easily go with, in case you don’t want to do the sleuthing yourself. ๐Ÿ˜‰ There will be 2 colorways listed right at the update time today, and the rest will be added on as I have time over the next few days. These are going to be custom order listings and will take 3-4 weeks to ship after the order is placed (maximum), and will not be eligible for coupon codes (as none of my custom order listings are). To see the Perfect Blenders, visit the page linked under the blog header.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you’ll swing by the shop as well! ๐Ÿ™‚ Until next time…

December 14 Shop Update- Last One Of 2017!

Hi folks! It’s time for my last shop update of 2017… and I tried very hard to make it special!

Dec14Yarn
Several of these colorways have been in high demand lately, so don’t miss your chance to get one for yourself!

Also debuting today are my brand new yarn bowls!
YarnBowls
Made from durable clothesline and quilt-shop-quality cotton fabric (and one out of durable paracord), the bowls are flexible, lightweight and won’t scratch furniture like ceramic/pottery bowls can. They are also packable and can easily be reshaped with your hands after being stored flat. Due to their size, they are only available for shipping to the US by Priority Mail (sorry international folks!), but any yarn order placed along with a bowl order will all ship in the same box, so you will get your order much faster! Also, any order placed with Priority Shipping by December 19 will arrive before Christmas according to the USPS website. ๐Ÿ™‚

As always, I am having an end-of-year sale… and this year the coupon code is MOONROOF and will save you 20% off any purchase in the shop (I’ve disabled custom order listings through the end of the year to give myself time to enjoy the holidays with my family). The code will expire at midnight ET on 12/31, so feel free to use it as many times as you want between now and then!

Thank you all so much for your support in 2017. It allows me to do what I love while still providing for my family, and I appreciate you so much! See you in 2018!

August 17 Shop Update

Hi folks!

My shop updates are a bit sporadic right now, as my husband is out of the country for work and I’m single parenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

I divided my time since the last update between the Unwind Yarn Company shop, and my Unwind In Stitches Etsy shop, and am doing updates in both today.

First, the yarn portion, which is going up in theย Unwind Yarn Company shop:

August 17 UYC

Top Row: Mariposa on Touring DK, Earth on Touring DK; Bottom Row: O’Bannon on Touring DK, In Dreams on Touring DK

As you can see, all the listings going up this week are on Touring DK (which happens to be my favorite non-fingering-weight base). All four of these colorways have at least two skeins available; In Dreams (bottom right) has 4, so you could easily get a short-sleeved sweater out of it! They will be available at 2pmET for purchase.

In my newly revamped Unwind In Stitches Etsy shop, I am focusing on sewn items and small gifts. This week, I have listed some knitting project bags, pincushions, and pencil bags:

August 17 UIS

All of these items are priced perfectly for gift giving, or as a small treat for yourself. They are all currently listed and available for purchase. Be sure to check the Etsy shop often, as I likely won’t be doing scheduled updates in it, but will be listing items as I finish them.

Thanks so much for checking out my updates, and I hope you see something you love!

10.7.14 Shop Update For SillyFru

Hi all! Today’s update is very important… not only am I celebrating the release of Daniela Richardson’s new Inverness Diamondsย patterns that utilize my yarn, but 10% of any sales made today will go to SillyFru’s medical fund to assist in her fight against hairy cell leukemia.

A little preview of the patterns…

The patterns are available in an all-encompassing eBook, or as individual patterns. There are patterns for long and short cowls in fingering/sport, worsted/aran, and bulky/super bulky, as well as a hat pattern, long and short mitts pattern, and a fair isle cowl pattern (available in the eBook as a bonus pattern). For the first week (10/6-10/12), 50% of the proceeds from pattern sales will be going to SillyFru’s medical fund.

And now for the update…

All Outlander colorways!

All Outlander colorways!

All Outlander colorways are available today on a variety of bases, not just what’s shown above, including a brand-new Outlander colorway called Highlands.

"Highlands" on Wanderlust Worsted

This colorway is based on the opening sequences of the Outlander television series on Starz.

JetSetter Super Bulky

JetSetter Super Bulky

The newest yarn base for Unwind Yarn Company is here! I’d like to introduce you to JetSetter Super Bulky, a lovely 100% merino wool fulled single that comes in huge 140yd/250g skeins. This yarn is identical to Malabrigo Rasta but has much better yardage so you can get a larger project out of one skein. It’s available in the update in 7 colors today.

Extras!

Extras!

These are some extras I’m listing today to round out the update and give you more to choose from. A Bushel & A Peck is a new colorway that I used to knit a sample of the Inverness Diamonds cowl, and there are three skeins available. There are other really special things in this “extras” category today and not all of them fit in the mosaic, so be sure to check out the shop for more info!

I hope you’ll consider purchasing today, both to support my shop and to support SillyFru in her fight against cancer.

A Little Help For A Friend

I write this post with both a heavy heart, and a heart full of hope… not sure how it’s possible to have both things at once, but there you go!

As some of you may know, I’ve become very good friends with SillyFru (aka Wendy) of the Sassy Pants Knitter podcast. Fru and I hung out a lot at the retreat I coordinated this year, Into The Wool, and she has graciously offered to help coordinate the retreat in 2015 along with CaffeinatedGert (aka Daniela) of the Caffeinated Knitting podcast. We have all become very close via Google Chat, where we literally chat with each other all day long around our other tasks. These ladies have become some of my closest friends and I’m so grateful to have them in my life.

A few weeks ago, Fru had an injury to her leg that just kept getting worse, and has gone down a long and frustrating medical path to finally getting a really scary diagnosis: she has hairy cell leukemia. The prognosis is good, and her spirits are a lot higher than mine would be in her situation, but there is still a scary path ahead of her and she’s only 37 years old. Not to mention the fact that her insurance is set to run out at the end of the month. (for more information on her story, please check out this episode of her podcast)

Not being close to her geographically, I have been trying to figure out what I can do to help this wonderful woman with her fight, and I think I’ve come up with the perfect way. My next huge update is set for October 7, andย 10% of all sales from that update will go to Fru’s medical fund.

Now you may ask, why is this update any different from any other update I’ve had? Well, I will tell you… Caffeinated Gert and I have been collaborating on a special project for several months, and she has designed a pattern collection using my yarns that will knock your socks off. We had always planned for that update to be the big reveal of the pattern collection, and the timing just works out great for me to be able to give a good amount of money to Fru (hopefully!).

This update features a lot of Outlander colorways, for one… AND I’m debuting a brand new yarn base called JetSetter Super Bulky. It is identical to Malabrigo Rasta, but with exceptionally better yardage and skein size (250g/140yds of superbulky 100% merino wool). I’m also debuting a brand new Outlander colorway called Highlands, which is one of the colors Caffeinated Gert designed with.

"Highlands" on JetSetter Super Bulky

“Highlands” on JetSetter Super Bulky

I won’t show you the finished pattern yet because I feel like that Daniela needs to show that first, but let’s just say that it’s an accessory pattern collection that utilizes every weight of yarn I dye, has a lovely texture, and would make perfect gifts for your loved ones for Christmas! You can check out her post about her own fundraiser for Fru, as well as a sneak peek and some info about the collection on her Ravelry group here.

This colorway will be available on several bases, and all of my other Outlander colorways will make appearances on several bases as well. I will also have the Super Bulky yarn in lots of colorways that aren’t Outlander-themed too, in case those don’t strike your fancy.

Mainly, I want to be sure that I can make a sizable donation to Fru’s medical fund. You can help by buying things on October 7, and like I said before, 10% of all sales that day will go to Fru’s medical fund. How much money gets donated depends totally on sales that day, but I’m hoping that the enormous size of the update and the desirability of the items goes a long way toward helping the day be huge! I hope you’ll consider making a purchase that day, and I will be sure to post after the day’s sales are tallied with the amount that I am donating to her fund!

Thank you all so much for your support of my shop, and for your support of Fru! And don’t forget… any purchases made now through 9/26 will not ship until 9/27 or 9/29 (depending on when I can get out of bed after a full day of travel) due to my vacation.

8.5.14 The ALL-HALLOWEEN Update!!

Ok I know if you love Halloween and Halloween colors as much as I do, you’ve probably been waiting for all of your favorite indies to come out with their Halloween colors for this year. I have been working very hard to make sure that my colors this year are the best I’ve ever done, and if I do say so myself, I think I outdid myself. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This week’s update is all-Halloween. I not only have the four new colors for this year, but I am re-releasing all of the past two years’ colorways as well. Here ya go!

A sampling of the yarns!

A sampling of the yarns!

This is just a sampling of the yarns that will go up today. Each of the new colorways are available on multiple bases, and the older colorways are available on one base each.

Top: I Put A Spell On You Twinkle Sock (1), Transylvania Tramp Honeymoon Sock (2), O Negative Luxe Sock (2)

Middle: Halloweenie Luxe Sock (3), Come Little Children Twinkle Sock (2), Goth Girl Twinkle Sock (2)

Bottom: Burning Rain of Death Twinkle Sock (2), Ghoulish Honeymoon Sock (2), Amuck Amuck Amuck Twinkle Sock (2)

8.5.14 Fibers

Top: Burning Rain of Death BFL/Silk (2), Moldy Pumpkin Falkland (2), Goth Girl Gray Merino (2)

Middle: Teen Wolf Falkland (2), I Put A Spell On You Corriedale (2), Come Little Children Merino (2)

Bottom: Ghoulish BFL/Silk (2), Transylvania Tramp Merino (2), Amuck Amuck Amuck Merino (2)

As you can see, there are 2 each of all of the fibers.

8.5.14... the ones that wouldn't fit in the 9 tile mosaics!

8.5.14… the ones that wouldn’t fit in the 9 tile mosaics!

And these guys wouldn’t fit in the mosaics above, so I made a special one just for them! Pictured are the Halloween MiniSkein kits (more about those in a second), O Negative Gray Merino (2 available), and Teen Wolf Honeymoon Sock (2 available).

Now, about the MiniSkein kits…

Halloween MiniSkeins Kit

Halloween MiniSkeins Kit

These kits are a special edition, and there are only 13 of them available in this update. Once they sell out they won’t be repeated, so if you would like one, be sure to be on time for the update! There are minis of each of my colors that I’ve done for Halloween over the last 3 years…

From 2012: Ghoulish, Transylvania Tramp, O Negative, Halloweenie

From 2013: Teen Wolf, Goth Girl

From 2014: I Put A Spell On You, Amuck Amuck Amuck, Come Little Children, Burning Rain of Death

Each miniskein is 30 yards are there are a total of 10 in the set for a total of 300 yards. They are all dyed on my Honeymoon Sock base, which is 100% superwash merino and a true fingering weight (7-8 stitch = 1″ on US1-3 needles). This kit would be great for any of the popular miniskein projects out right now: Barn Raising Quilt, Beekeeper’s Quilt (aka hexipuffs), scrappy scarves, funky socks… lots of ideas out there! Just be sure to be on time for the update if you want one!

I also want to show you some shop swatches knit up of my new Halloween colorways, so you can get an idea of what they’ll look like if you purchase them:

2014 Halloween Colorway Swatches

2014 Halloween Colorway Swatches

Top: I Put A Spell On You, Burning Rain of Death

Bottom: Come Little Children, Amuck Amuck Amuck

As you can see, these yarns tend to spiral pool when knit in the round. The swatches are knit in the round, 60 stitches, to emulate a sock leg. I think the color play is really interesting and fun, and hope you do too! (the swatch pictures will be a part of my permanent shop swatch page, linked at the top of the blog under my logo) Also, thanks to Daniela of the Caffeinated Knitting podcast for helping me knit two of these swatches! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, another announcement… next week’s update will also be all-Halloween (although markedly smaller…), and after next week I will be going to scheduled updates in the shop. I have a really big dye project going on right now, as well as getting ready for fall festival season, so I need to be able to focus a little more on other things in addition to regular updates. My updates will still be on Tuesdays, and I will have a update schedule available in the sidebar of the shop blog once I set it (as well as on my group page on Ravelry, on the front page of the shop, etc.- you’ll be able to find it easily!). The updates will be bigger since they won’t be happening quite as frequently, so you’ll have more to choose from when I update. I hope you guys understand my need to make this transition, and continue to support my shop.

Thanks so much for reading this far, and I hope you’ll pick up some fun Halloween goodies for yourself today at 4pmET!
